The Queen Bee
Giving up everything to be yourself—and that is everything.
Everyone was buzzing until she stepped inside. She practically flew in with her indigocape dress and commanded the coffee shop with the click-clack of her high heels—which for the love of Nike, couldn’t possibly get any higher.
The Queen Bee has arrived.
Clamouring a well-constructed outfit of indigo, cream and gold, no one could deny that he lady is an authority in the fashion industry. This lady is Bee Urgello.
Winning Queen of Cebu in 2011
Bee was supporting her best friend Maki Eve Mercedes who won in the same pageant a year before she got her title.
The pageant was giving out awards to the audience and Bee bagged the “best-dressed” award.
“(Winning the award) really made me feel like a fashionista. It’s a big thing for someone to win best-dressed award.”
Her parents found out she won such award and asked her why she wouldn’t just join the pageant. It was her go signal to join the pageant.
“And I did and I won,” she said sounding so humble as a Queen could ever be.
Looking perfect is not easy
Our Queen of Cebu 2011 winner never leaves the house without looking 10 out of 10.
What’s her secret in looking no less than perfect? She plans her outfits every night!
“If I don’t plan, my room would be so chaotic: all of the dresses would be on the bed and all of the shoes would be out of the closet,” she shared with Rampa.
She would also incorporate yellow and gold in her outfits as these are her favourite color. She admitted wearing them makes her happy.
Foolproof ensemble
One of the job descriptions of a model is to go to casting calls. Sometimes, it’s not calendared because clients are unpredictable.
When Bee gets a sudden casting call or an emergency and have to leave the house, she has a “uniform” that could never go wrong.
White polo, jeans and flats or the classic simple black dress, “you could never go wrong with black. It matches anything!”
Fashion signature
Bee draws inspiration from Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Coco Chanel, and locally, no other than Gretchen Baretto.
Like them, she dons classic, elegant, sophisticated, and polished look.
Her tips for young fashionistas: “find your own style and make it work. Know what looks good on you and what doesn’t. Own your style.”
Shopping, shopping and shopping
One thing that could put a smile on Bee Urgello’s face is shopping. She admitted that she loves shopping and would always put a budget for this hobby.
Locally, she buys her clothes at Topshop, Zara and Mango. She also enjoys shopping online from Zalora, Apartment8 and from online sellers who sells things ordered from other countries.
Bee has her social media where she posts her #ootd (outfit of the day) where she gets tons of likes! It gives her joy that people think she is a fashion authority.
“I am inspired by people who are inspired by me.”
Bee is open to blogging and would one day open a blog but she still doesn’t know how.
When one day her blog would come to a reality, we would be browsing at one of the first transgender woman who doesn’t feature the usual urban chic look but the classic, elegant wear that would turn all eyes on her.
